Boring Mill Machinist

Our client is one of the world’s leading pump companies – a centre of excellence in pump technology, hydraulic design and engineering. They are strategically structured to provide a specific focus on each of their customer’s key markets as well as providing full global aftermarket support. They seek a permanent, full-time Boring Mill Machinist in Burlington, ON.


A competitive compensation package is on offer, consisting of $31 to $35/hour (commensurate upon experience) plus excellent, comprehensive benefits.

Position Description

In this important role, you will be entrusted with assessing and diagnosing potential concerns with both hydraulic and mechanical machinery. Specifically pumps and rotating equipment within a shop environment. Working alongside expert techs, you will benefit from guidance and direction from a skilled and experience shop supervisor.

  • Preparing and operating machine tools in your area of responsibility
  • Setting up and operating manual milling machines
  • Accepting work orders and identifying required tools and/or activities required to complete the required task(s)
  • Manipulating appropriate tools (jaws, chucks, cutting tools etc.)
  • Using specialized gauges and precision instruments to analyze products and make necessary adjustments and refinements.


  • 3 to 5 years of boring mill experience
  • 5+ years of manual machining, specifically manual engine lathes, surface grinders, VTL and HBM
  • Horizontal mill experience and lean manufacturing methods are preferred


  • Excellent comprehension of English: reading, writing, and speaking
  • Decent understanding of mathematics (addition, subtraction, division and multiplication), in addition to fractions and decimals
  • Producing parts in accordance with blueprint specs
  • Comfortable and basic understanding of manufacturing mechanical blueprints
  • Adept at working a simple keyboard and monitor + user interface for entering data etc.
  • Excellent communication skills coupled with stellar teamwork abilities
  • Proven track record of safe work and consistent attendance
  • Experience with measuring equipment (eg: calipers, gauges, and micrometers)
  • Proficient with computers
