Maintenance Technician

A well-established organization that offers a challenging and stable work environment in the not-for-profit sector is looking for a Maintenance Technician to oversee their healthcare facilities all located within one campus. Compensation

$50,000 – $60,000 base salary + excellent benefits creating a very comprehensive compensation package.

Position Description

As the Maintenance Technician/Associate, you will be responsible for over working with a team environment to oversee all building operations within the campus.  This includes checking all building systems to ensure they are operating effectively, conducting preventative maintenance and all building systems, monitoring the BAS, and being hands-on in completing minor maintenance repairs.  Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting daily checks of all building systems and completing logbooks.
  • Troubleshooting any major building system issues. Should a contractor need to be called, diagnosing which contractor is most suitable.
  • Ensuring all tenant requests are fulfilled and dealt with in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Completing all work orders in priority sequence
  • Complete minor electrical, minor pluming and mechanical repairs
  • Small drywall repairs which includes painting and patching holes
  • Monitoring general contractors while on site completing repairs and construction work
  • Responding to afterhours emergencies
  • Ensuring common areas are debris free, and safe for residents
  • Removing snow from walkways to ensure health and safety requirements are maintained

There are three Maintenance Technicians/Building Operators in the portfolio reporting into a Manager. The team rotates weekly to ensure coverage between the hours of 7 am to 6 pm, with each Technician required to work 8 hours a day, with some overlap between the Technicians.

Experience

  • 5 + years of Building Operations, Maintenance Technician, Maintenance Associate or Facilities Technician
  • A strong understanding of how building systems work: HVAC, boilers, chiller, cooling towers, etc.
  • Experience with BAS
  • Proven hands- on experience with minor maintenance repairs

  • 5 + years of experience in building operations/maintenance
  • BES, a skilled trade, or any other education in building operations and maintenance

Education

Building Environmental Systems (BES) II and/or I, a skilled trade, or any other post-secondary education in building operations and maintenance.
