Compensation

The compensation package consists of a salary of $75,000 – $85,000, a bonus plan, comprehensive benefits (health, dental, etc.), paid time off (PTO), RRSP matching, and more.

The Opportunity

Join this established and respected organization as their new Manufacturing Engineer, where you’ll take on a dual role—supporting production and diving into design engineering. If you’re passionate about process improvement, efficiency, and quality, especially within metal fabrication, welding, machining, laser cutting, and press brake operations, this could be the role for you!

Position Description

Manufacturing Engineering

  • Process Optimization: Lead the design and refinement of manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and quality across metal fabrication, welding, machining, and laser cutting.
  • Continuous Improvement: Conduct cycle time studies, implement Lean and 5S initiatives, and drive productivity by reducing waste.
  • Technical Support: Be the go-to engineering expert for production teams, providing real-time solutions in fabrication and welding operations.
  • Quality Assurance: Partner with Quality to implement quality controls, analyze non-conformance issues, and develop corrective actions.
  • Project Management: Oversee projects from concept to execution, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery.
  • Training & Development: Mentor production staff on best practices in safety, fabrication techniques, and manufacturing standards.

 

Design Engineering

  • Design and Processing: Utilize SolidWorks to create detailed designs and drawings for welded assemblies, laser cutting, forming, and assembly. Streamline designs to support efficient production.
  • Continuous Improvement in Design: Identify opportunities to optimize designs and manufacturing workflows, suggesting actionable improvements.
  • Technical Analysis: Evaluate designs for manufacturability and ensure they meet standards and customer expectations. Propose cost-effective solutions and refine designs as needed.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with manufacturing and quality control teams to ensure designs are production-ready. Partner with the Engineering Manager to align workflows and resources for maximum efficiency.
  • Customer Focus: Engage with customers to ensure their requirements are met and maintain high standards of quality and responsiveness.

 

Estimating:

  • Prepare accurate job estimates that reflect material costs, labour, and production time, ensuring transparency and consistency through the ERP system.

Experience

5-10 years in a manufacturing engineering role with expertise in metal fabrication, welding assemblies, machining, laser cutting, and press brake operations.

Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, CNC programming, and CAD/CAM software. Extensive experience with SolidWorks, especially in sheet metal, BOM structures, and ERP process routings.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to bridge technical information across teams.
  • Proven ability to think critically and develop innovative, practical solutions to complex manufacturing challenges.
  • Proactive and flexible, you thrive in a culture of continuous improvement and growth.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
