The Opportunity

This is a part-time (approx. 3 days a week), hybrid role with a growing company, boasting a strong market presence. They are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Accountant with a passion for manufacturing finance to join their team.

Position Description

The Manufacturing Financial Controller will be responsible for managing the financial operations of their manufacturing facility. This role requires a deep understanding of cost accounting, financial analysis, and budgeting within a manufacturing context. The successful candidate will work closely with the company’s leadership to support strategic decision-making and ensure financial stability.

  • Financial Oversight: Manage all financial activities related to the manufacturing operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Cost Accounting: Lead the cost accounting processes, including product costing, inventory management, and variance analysis to support operational efficiency.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage annual budgets, providing regular updates and forecasts to guide business planning.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Canadian accounting standards.
  • Internal Controls: Establish and maintain effective internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Financial Analysis: Perform detailed financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a small team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with operations, supply chain, and sales teams to align financial objectives with overall business goals.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all tax, legal, and regulatory requirements, including managing external audits.

Experience

5 to 7 years of accounting experience within manufacturing finance.

Qualifications

  • CPA designation (CA, CGA, or CMA) or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in cost accounting, financial analysis, and budgeting.
  • Strong analytical skills able to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to effectively convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in all financial reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.

Education

CPA designation (CA, CGA, or CMA) or equivalent.
