Registered Pharmacy Technician

A thriving healthcare and pharmaceutical service provider is seeking a Registered Pharmacy Technician to join their team in a closed-door pharmacy setting. Compensation

$55,000 – $62,000, commensurate upon experience, plus additional perks.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a compassionate individual with strong communication skills and the ability to assist patients in navigating the hurdles of insurance coverage. If you are an organized and empathetic person who is comfortable communicating with multiple parties, boasting strong administrative skills, this role may be for you.

As the Registered Pharmacy Technician, you will also act as a mentor to the non-registered Pharmacy Assistants.

Candidates should be comfortable working Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9am to 5 pm.

Position Description

As the successful candidate in this role, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the Pharmacist by preparing and dispensing medications as per prescriptions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations
  • Assist with managing the pharmacy’s inventory ordering medications, and ensuring stock levels are adequate for patient’s needs
  • Processing claims for medication or medical services through insurance providers or government programs
  • Confirming patient’s insurance coverage for prescribed medications, ensuring that the claims submitted are correct
  • Investigating and resolving insurance claim denials, working with patients, insurance companies and prescribers to secure coverage
  • Ensure accurate billing codes are used to reflect that medications and services provided
  • Help patients understand their insurance coverage, co-pays, and options for medication access
  • Work with drug manufacturers, patient assistance programs, and non-profit organizations to secure financial assistance for patients who may not have adequate coverage
  • Act as a liaison between the pharmacy, healthcare providers, and patients to resolve issues related to insurance and payment

Experience

  • Must be a Registered Pharmacy Technician with OCP
  • Must have 1+ year(s) of experience working as a Registered Pharmacy Technician
  • Knowledge of Insurance and Billing processes, claim submissions, billing codes and Reimbursement policies a must
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate with patients, healthcare providers and insurance companies

Qualifications

  • Must be a Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking, excellent written and verbal communication, strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Education

  • Completion of post-secondary education as a pharmaceutical technician
  • Diploma from a CCAPP accredited college and completion of a Pharmacy Technician program
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
