Senior Property Accountant, Condominium

Company Description

Our client is a leading Asset and Property Management firm with commercial, residential and condo portfolios consisting of over $1.5 billion dollars. They are in continual growth mode and are looking to add a Senior Property Accountant/Accounting Supervisor to their growing team. This role is open due to the growth of the organization as they are currently growing their new development arm. As such, this is a role with succession planning and growth opportunities, as the company is looking at successfully transitioning the Supervisor to Manager and then Controller in the years to come.

Compensation

$65,000 to $85,000 or commensurate upon experience.

Position Description

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Monthly & Quarterly Reporting

  • Lead a team to ensure monthly financial reports are up to date
  • Reviewing monthly reconciliations and prepare financial statements
  • Prepare quarterly financial statements and variance analysis
  • Manage finance reports for special projects

 

Fixed Assets

  • Manage fixed asset schedules and prepare monthly journal entry
  • Ensure fixed assets schedules are updated regularly

 

Audit

  • Prepare interim and year-end audit schedules
  • Ensure all deadlines are met and all audit paperwork is in order for VP of finance

 

Budget Preparation

  • Assist accounts payable in budgeting the expense accounts
  • Review operating cost budgets with Property Managers
  • Prepare revenue and recovery cost budgets.

 

HST filing

  • Review HST for monthly filing
  • Work with Statistics Canada for any issues, filing, delinquencies, etc.

Experience

In order to be COMPETITIVE for this position, you will have:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 3 years of experience working within accounting and finance within Property Management
  • Experience working within the Condo Property sector in accounting/finance a MUST
  • Experience with Yardi Voyageur a MUST
  • Experience working for a small property management firm, where wearing multiple hats is necessary
  • An accounting designation or pursuing a CA with near completion, a very strong asset
  • Strong computer skills; Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills

Education

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • An accounting designation or pursuing an CA with near completion ideal
