The Opportunity

Our client is looking for an experienced and motivated Supervisor, Transborder / Domestic Cargo Operations to join their team. This is a remote position where you will be a key leader in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the cargo team. You will supervise the cargo agents, ensuring operational efficiency, high-quality service delivery, and adherence to company policies and industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics, excellent coaching and mentoring skills, and the ability to manage and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).

Position Description

Key Responsibilities:

Team Supervision and Leadership

  • Supervise a team of Transborder / Domestic Cargo Agents, providing guidance, support, and oversight to ensure effective execution of all operational tasks.
  • Lead by example and work collaboratively as part of the team to maintain high productivity levels and a positive work environment.
  • Provide regular coaching, training, and mentoring to cargo agents to improve performance, skills, and career development.
  • Ensure team adherence to company policies, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.

Performance Management

  • Monitor and manage individual and team performance, identifying areas for improvement and providing actionable feedback.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and set clear goals to motivate and guide the team.
  • Address performance issues promptly and constructively, fostering an environment of continuous improvement.

KPI Management and Reporting

  • Track and report on critical KPIs related to cargo operations, including shipment timeliness, delivery accuracy, customer satisfaction, and issue resolution.
  • Analyze performance data and trends to identify opportunities for operational efficiency and process improvement.
  • Prepare and present reports on team performance, KPI achievement, and operational status to senior management.
  • Implement strategies to ensure KPIs are met or exceeded, providing corrective actions when needed.

Operational Support

  • Oversee daily cargo operations, ensuring smooth execution of shipments and compliance with all transportation and customs regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational challenges in collaboration with the team.
  • Work with internal teams (logistics, customer service, and customs brokerage) to optimize operational processes and ensure timely deliveries.

Customer and Stakeholder Communication

  • Ensure effective communication between the cargo team and internal/external stakeholders, including customers, customs brokers, and other departments.
  • Address any escalated customer issues or concerns related to cargo operations, ensuring quick resolution and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

Additional Information

  • This is a remote position. Candidates must be able and willing to work from home with minimal supervision.
  • The position requires a hands-on approach to both leadership and operational duties.
  • Must be able to manage a team effectively while ensuring the smooth flow of daily cargo operations.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of operational experience in the North American freight forwarding or logistics transportation sector, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience in managing and resolving customer issues related to logistics and cargo operations.
  • Proven track record of coaching and mentoring team members to improve performance and drive results.
  • Strong background in cargo operations, logistics, and the import/export process for North American ground transportation.

Qualifications

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and lead a remote team effectively.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills to develop the team and improve individual and group performance.
  • Proficiency in managing and reporting KPIs to ensure operational success and accountability.
  • Fluently bilingual in French and English (French as the preferred primary language).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French and English, with French written communication skills being a MUST.
  • Superior problem-solving abilities to quickly address operational challenges and provide solutions.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple priorities in a remote work environment.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to analyze data effectively.
