“Happy Recruiting New Year”! Ringing In The Post-Labour Day Business World Revival

Set to the backdrop of skyscrapers and fireworks going off, a la Times Square New Year's Eve celebration, a 50s something Caucasian man in a suit shakes the hand of an African-Canadian female professional, both elated as evidenced by their big smiles, as he welcomes her to the company having just hired her. In the foreground is a desk with pens, some files, a desk phone, a couple of laptops and other business instruments. All of this imagery being an allusion to a concept we've coined here called "Happy Recruiting New Year". As in, with the return of school, the end of summer, as marked by Labour Day, businesses get back to business. Especially with recruiting, which means a busy finish to the year for we recruiting firms. Something we're more than happy about, but more so relieved about, after hiring slowdowns, challenges, recruiter frustration despite trying our best to bring together employers and candidates who are more often than not, sitting on the beach or the dock all summer!

Happy Recruiting New Year! Yes, you read that right. Here at Stoakley-Stewart, we’ve coined the post-Labour Day business world revival as: “Recruiting New Year”! For many, the day after Labour Day symbolizes the culmination of summer revelries, the packing away of vacation gear, and the hustle and bustle of back-to-school routines. The still warm but […]

a group of approximately a dozen white collar professionals in stuffy business attire sit in beach chairs, literally on the beach, with laptops in their laps, cell phones and papers in hand, busy doing work when they should be relaxing at the beach, hearkening the overworked nature of North Americans and their stubborn refusal to take their allotted vacation time away from work, prizing being "always on" and over-dedicated to their jobs vs. enjoying their time off and what life has to offer

There’s a time to shine and then there’s a time to recharge and rejuvenate. If you grew up in the 80’s you might’ve heard co-workers and friends reminding you that “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” (If you’re Gen Z, look that quote up maybe…incredible flick!) This *ahem* overworked trope not […]
