National Accounts Manager – Retail Expansion (Grocery / Frozen Foods)

Company Description

Our client is a Canadian food company with a strong presence in the frozen food category. Their products are already on shelves in a major national grocery banner and widely distributed through independent retailers.

The foundation is there. The product lineup is strong. The operational side of the business is solid.

Now the company is looking for someone who knows how to take that momentum and expand it across more grocery chains.

Someone who understands how to get products in front of the right buyers and turn a conversation into shelf space.

Compensation

  • Base salary: $110,000 to $125,000*
  • Uncapped commission plan that rewards both new listings and growth within existing retail accounts.
  • For someone who is comfortable pursuing new opportunities and closing deals, the commission structure can create significant earning potential.

The Opportunity

This role is about growing the brand’s presence across Canadian grocery retailers.

The company already has a foothold within one major grocery chain and strong independent store distribution. The next step is expanding into additional national banners and strengthening relationships within existing retail partners.

You will spend time identifying new opportunities, building relationships with grocery buyers, and working toward getting products listed across more stores and regions.

The role operates within a hybrid work structure, allowing for remote work while still requiring time in the field. Regular travel is part of the job, whether that means meeting with buyers, visiting retail partners, or attending industry events.

For someone who enjoys the pursuit of new business and the satisfaction of seeing products appear on shelves because of their efforts, this role offers a lot to work with.

Position Description

In this role you will take ownership of growing the company’s retail presence across Canada.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Developing relationships with grocery category buyers and retail decision makers
  • Presenting products and securing new retail listings
  • Expanding distribution within existing retail partners
  • Negotiating promotions, placements, and distribution agreements
  • Working internally with supply and operations teams to support product launches
  • Monitoring retail trends and identifying opportunities for growth
  • Travelling to meet with buyers, attend industry events, and support retail partnerships

 

This role suits someone who enjoys both the strategy and the energy of sales.

Experience

The ideal candidate already understands how grocery retail works.

You may currently be selling food products or other consumer packaged goods into grocery chains. You likely know how buyer meetings unfold, how listings happen, and what it takes to turn interest into actual shelf placement.

Experience launching new products into grocery banners or growing distribution within large retail chains will be especially valuable.

Qualifications

  • Experience selling consumer products into grocery retailers
  • Track record of developing or expanding retail accounts
  • Comfortable negotiating with category buyers and senior retail stakeholders
  • Strong relationship-building and presentation skills
  • Willingness to travel regularly for meetings and account development
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid structure that combines remote work with in-market activity
  • Motivated by performance-based earnings and commission opportunities
  • Self-directed and comfortable pursuing new business opportunities
