Position Description

Location Note: the opportunity is in the United Kingdom, with your being located in the London area preferred, but the organization is open to other commercially-oriented locations across the UK.

We are seeking an accomplished and passionate Country Manager to lead commercial and operational functions for a dynamic freight forwarding organization. This is a high-impact role for a leader who embodies the logistics and freight forwarding industry in every sense – whose enthusiasm and drive for the business “shine through their eyes” and inspire teams, clients, and stakeholders alike.

The successful candidate will take full ownership of both revenue growth and operational excellence in the UK market, with the flexibility to extend responsibilities to other commercially-oriented geographies as required. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives at the intersection of strategy, operations, and client engagement.

  • Lead the country operations, including commercial strategy, client acquisition, and P&L accountability.
  • Develop and execute business development plans to expand market share, secure new accounts, and deepen relationships with key clients.
  • Oversee multimodal freight operations (Sea, Air, and Road) to ensure service quality, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to drive end-to-end solutions, aligning commercial objectives with operational execution.
  • Mentor, guide, and inspire the local team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and passion for logistics.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging business opportunities to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance, ensuring profitability targets are met.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain management, with proven commercial and operational leadership.
  • Experience in leading teams, driving performance, and embedding a client-centric culture.
  • Strategic thinker with the commercial acumen to identify opportunities and deliver tangible results.
  • Passion for the logistics industry, visible in attitude, engagement, and results.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Proven P&L responsibility, business growth, and client relationship management.
  • Exposure to international logistics operations is highly
