Finance Manager

Kitchener, ON | On-Site
Job ID 10423

Company Description

This is a well-established, privately held manufacturing organization with a long track record of stability, profitability, and continuous reinvestment in its operations. With a strong North American footprint and a reputation for engineering-driven quality, the business operates with the discipline of a larger enterprise while maintaining the agility and accessibility of a mid-sized organization.

Leadership is engaged, decisions are made without unnecessary bureaucracy, and finance plays a central role in guiding operational and strategic outcomes.

Compensation

A competitive compensation package is on offer, consisting of a strong salary of $90,000 to $105,000* and comprehensive benefits.

  • Base Salary: $90,000 – $105,000*
  • Performance Bonus: Discretionary, tied to individual and company performance
  • Comprehensive Benefits Package, including:
  • Extended health, dental, and vision coverage
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Employer-supported retirement savings program
  • Paid vacation and personal time
  • Professional development support
  • Stable, long-tenured workforce and supportive leadership environment

*The stated compensation range reflects the full scope of the role as currently structured and is provided in accordance with pay transparency requirements. Offers are determined based on relevant experience, demonstrated skills, internal equity, and alignment with the role’s requirements. The upper end of the range is typically reserved for candidates who fully meet all requirements and qualifications outlined in this posting and the official job description.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on Finance Manager role with real influence. You are not just reporting numbers, you are helping shape decisions.

You will work closely with senior leadership, oversee core accounting functions, and bring clarity to financial performance across the business. There is meaningful exposure to operations, the ability to improve processes, and the opportunity to leave a visible mark.

For someone who enjoys ownership, accountability, and practical impact, this role delivers.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

In the first 3 to 6 months, success means establishing control and credibility. You understand the numbers, the processes, and where improvements are needed. Leadership begins to rely on your input.

By 6 to 12 months, you are operating with confidence and influence. Reporting is accurate and timely, forecasting is more reliable, and decision-makers are using your insights to guide actions.

You are not reacting to issues. You are anticipating them.

Position Description

The Finance Manager is responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting, while also contributing to planning, forecasting, and operational decision support.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing full-cycle accounting, including month-end, year-end, and financial statement preparation
  • Managing budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Monitoring financial performance and identifying trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Supporting leadership with financial analysis and actionable insights
  • Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
  • Leading or mentoring accounting staff as applicable
  • Driving improvements in financial processes, reporting, and systems
  • Supporting audits and liaising with external stakeholders

This is a role where technical strength meets business awareness.

A WEEK IN THE LIFE

Your week typically begins with a review of financial performance. You are looking at variances, identifying what changed, and understanding why.

Midweek often involves collaboration. You connect with operations, leadership, or department heads to walk through numbers, answer questions, and provide context. Some conversations are straightforward, others require digging deeper and translating financial data into practical business implications.

Month-end periods bring a sharper focus. You are coordinating close activities, ensuring accuracy, and keeping timelines tight without sacrificing quality.

Throughout the week, there is ongoing work around forecasting, refining reports, and improving how information flows through the organization. You are not just maintaining the system, you are strengthening it.

Experience

  • Proven experience in a Finance Manager or senior accounting role
  • Background in manufacturing or a product-driven environment is strongly preferred
  • Experience overseeing full-cycle accounting and financial reporting

Qualifications

  • CPA designation (or near completion) required.
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and proficiency with ERP/accounting systems
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Experience within a manufacturing or multi-entity business environment is considered an asset
  • Proactive and detail-oriented professional with strong leadership abilities
  • Able to balance hands-on responsibilities with strategic financial insight
  • Committed to accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement

Education

  • CPA designation (or near completion) required
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
