The Opportunity

An established and respected local manufacturer, with global operations, seeks a Health and Safety Coordinator.

Position Description

As a Health and Safety Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. Your primary responsibilities will include developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety programs, ensuring compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations, and fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization.

You will work closely with various departments to identify potential hazards, conduct risk assessments, and provide training and guidance on safe work practices.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a health and safety role, ideally in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and accident investigations.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or coordinator role is an asset.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a similar discipline.
  • Certifications like CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) or equivalent are strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and educate employees at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with health and safety management software.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and time-management skills.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a similar discipline.
  • Certifications like CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) or equivalent are strongly preferred.
