The Opportunity

An established and respected local manufacturer, with global operations, seeks a Health and Safety Coordinator.

Position Description

As a Health and Safety Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. Your primary responsibilities will include developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety programs, ensuring compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations, and fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization.

You will work closely with various departments to identify potential hazards, conduct risk assessments, and provide training and guidance on safe work practices.

Experience

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a health and safety role, ideally in a manufacturing environment
Proven experience in developing and implementing health and safety policies and procedures.
Experience conducting risk assessments and accident investigations.
Familiarity with health and safety regulations and standards.
Previous experience in a leadership or coordinator role is an asset.

Qualifications

Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices.
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a similar discipline.
Certifications like CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) or equivalent are strongly preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and educate employees at all levels.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with health and safety management software.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and time-management skills.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a similar discipline.
Certifications like CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) or equivalent are strongly preferred.
