The Opportunity

Position Description

Reporting to the Operations or Production Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the effective operation of all assigned shifts, warehouse activities, and the achievement of daily and weekly departmental production targets. They will oversee a shift size of up to 400 associates.

  • Monitor the movement of products through various stages within the warehouse
  • Identify the source of any delays or backlogs and devise correction plans
  • Communicate and implement changes as directed
  • Recognize any deficiencies and adjust as needed
  • Allocate resources and manpower as needed
  • Ensure health and safety compliance in accordance with company policies
  • Provide leadership by establishing clear expectations and demonstrating high standards of work practices and safety-conscious behavior
  • Liaise with drivers, customers, and warehouse personnel
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) procedures and practices
  • Supervise all staff under your direct or indirect control
  • Eliminate all forms of “shrink”
  • Ensure all misroutes are rerouted to proper areas
  • Perform administrative duties as required to ensure daily Key Performance Indicator (KPI) performance is achieved
  • Utilize all resources efficiently
  • Continuously monitor the performance and activities of shift operations through the use of KPIs, with a primary focus on cost controls
  • Perform any other duties as require

Experience

As the successful candidate, you have a “business first” approach with superior analytical and organizational skills. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a strong sense of urgency, are self-motivated and work effectively under pressure.

  • Minimum 5 years’ industry related experience 2-3 years of which is in the management role
  • Excel & systems knowledge – proficiency in Microsoft Office required; SAP experience required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strategic planning and implementation skills
  • Detailed oriented and strong analytical skills
  • Cross-departmental experience with the ability to develop strong business relationships.
  • Union experience an asset
  • Conflict Management skills are essential
