The Opportunity

This is a hands-on Project Engineering role with real influence over how things are built, improved, and scaled.

You will take ownership of capital projects and manufacturing enhancements from concept through to implementation. That includes everything from evaluating new equipment and processes to refining existing production methods for better performance, efficiency, and quality.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the floor as much as they do behind a screen. You will work closely with production teams, tool rooms, vendors, and leadership to bring ideas to life and ensure they perform in real-world conditions.

Position Description

  • Lead capital equipment and process improvement projects from initial concept through installation and production readiness
  • Develop technical specifications, request and evaluate vendor proposals, and manage project timelines and budgets
  • Design, modify, and improve production equipment, tooling, and mechanical systems
  • Support manufacturing operations with troubleshooting across mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Contribute to die casting and injection molding processes, including tooling and process optimization
  • Create and revise engineering drawings using CAD tools
  • Perform engineering calculations to validate design decisions and ensure performance standards are met
  • Participate in installation, testing, and commissioning of new or upgraded equipment
  • Develop procedures, work instructions, and training materials to support production teams
  • Conduct inspections and validation of prototypes, tooling, and machine components
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing scrap, improving quality, and increasing efficiency
  • Collaborate with vendors, internal teams, and leadership to implement new technologies and processes
  • Support quality planning activities including FMEA, control plans, and APQP documentation
  • Travel periodically to support projects, suppliers, or other company locations

Experience

  • 3 to 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering or project engineering role
  • Prior exposure to automotive or high-volume production environments is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects involving capital equipment or process improvements
  • Hands-on involvement with production machinery, tooling, and troubleshooting

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment and process issues
  • Working knowledge of injection molding and/or die casting operations
  • Experience with CAD systems such as AutoCAD or similar platforms
  • Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic control systems including PLCs and HMIs
  • Understanding of quality systems and methodologies such as FMEA, control plans, and APQP
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with production, maintenance, and leadership teams
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
