Quality Control Specialist

Company Description

Our client is widely recognized as Canada’s leading food ingredient supplier, known for taking a product from inception through to development, manufacturing, packaging and distribution.  They are looking to fill a critical role within their Quality Group.

Compensation

A competitive compensation package is on offer, consisting of a $55,000 base salary, plus other perks.

Position Description

This position will support other North American facilities with the development, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the facility’s supplier and product risk assessment programs.

You will be empowered and entrusted in assisting with maintaining the quality systems. This translates into helping with the preparations for scheduled customer and 3rd party audits as required. These include annual certification audit such as SQF, Organic, FAMI-QS, Kosher, Halal and unscheduled audits, such as CFIA, FDA, etc.

Additionally, you will conduct monthly HACCP inspections, provide support/back-up for the Quality Assurance Specialist, and stay current on Canadian and US regulations pertaining to Food Safety and Quality Assurance.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a QA/QC food manufacturing environment
  • Strong follow-up, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written) skills
  • Willing to work hands on with operation employees to ensure compliance of food safety programs
  • Working experience with regulatory and other certification bodies, for example CFIA, FDA Organic

Education

Post-secondary education: BSc degree, preferably in Food Science or related discipline
