Our client is widely recognized as North America’s leading food ingredient supplier, known for taking a product from inception through to development, manufacturing, packaging and distribution. They are looking to fill a critical role within their Research & Development area with a 6 month contract position.

Compensation

The Opportunity

This is a great opportunity for an R&D professional who is open to a contract position (6 months) and endeavours to join an industry leader. In this important function, you will both learn from, AND help the best in your craft. If you have a university Degree (B.Sc. – Food Science or equivalent, along with 1-2 years of product development experience in the food industry, you ought excel in this important position while gaining invaluable insights into this evergreen profession.

Position Description

As part of the R&D Team, you will bring your knowledge in completing the R&D process of formulation and development of new products from the concept stage to prototype and full-scale production. You will have experience with ingredient matches and modifications for existing products and will be part of the Business Team Unit providing support to other areas as required.

The successful candidate selected for this position will have previous experience preparing and presenting relevant concepts to customers featuring manufacturer or distributed products.

Ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations, GMP’s and HACCP requirements is core to this important position.

Your experience and knowledge with production, marketing, QA/QC in monitoring performances of new products during post-launch activities in New Product Process means that you are able to troubleshoot and make recommendation for ingredients and you are comfortable with customer visits when necessary.

As a R&D Specialist, you will participate in marketing activities and you will support product improvement initiatives for improving the quality, nutritional value, colour, flavor, texture and convenience.

Experience

A minimum 1 year of experience in a Research & Development role, ideally in the food and beverage industry.

 

Qualifications

  • Strong follow-up, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication (verbal/written) skills
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Outlook, Excel) formulation software programs and CRM experience
  • Post-Secondary education in Food Science an asset
