Senior Property Accountant

Our client is a leading Asset and Property Management firm with commercial, residential and condo portfolios consisting of over $1.5 Billion dollars. They are in continual growth mode and are looking to add a Senior Property Accountant to their growing team. This is a newly created role due to the growth of the organization. As such this is a role with succession planning and growth opportunities.

They are looking for an innovative, and dynamic individual with the right personality and drive. They are looking for an assertive individual, while at the same time this person must have the willingness to learn and be moldable in order to grow throughout their career with this organization. This organization is led by a team of “outside the box thinkers,” and as such, they need a transformational leader in finance…not just a transactional leader.

Compensation

$60,000 – $70,000K annually, plus additional perks.

Position Description

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Monthly & Quarterly Reporting
- Lead a team to ensure monthly financial reports are up to date
- Reviewing monthly reconciliations and prepare financial statements
- Prepare quarterly financial statements and variance analysis
- Manage finance reports for special projects
Fixed Assets
- Manage fixed asset schedules and prepare monthly journal entry
- Ensure fixed assets schedules are updated regularly
Audit
- Prepare interim and year-end audit schedules
- Ensure all deadlines are met and all audit paperwork is in order for VP of finance
Budget Preparation
- Assist accounts payable in budgeting the expense accounts
- Review operating cost budgets with Property Managers
- Prepare revenue and recovery cost budgets.
HST filing
- Review HST for monthly filing
- Work with Statistics Canada for any issues, filing, delinquencies, etc.

Experience

In order to be COMPETITIVE for this position, you will have:

Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
At least 3 years of experience working within accounting and finance within
Property Management
Experience working within the Condo Property sector in accounting/finance
Experience with Yardi Voyageur an MUST

Qualifications

An accounting designation or pursuing a CA with near completion, an asset
Strong computer skills; Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint
Excellent oral and written English communication skills

Education

Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
An accounting designation or pursuing an CA with near completion ideal
