Facilities Maintenance Manager

Company Description

A national logistics company with a large distribution facility in Delta, British Columbia, is looking for a Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance of the facility and equipment in the distribution centre. This leading organization provides innovative and sustainable logistics services to a diverse range of industries. This facility caters to a leading national client, so downtime needs to be minimal to ensure effective and efficient operations.

Compensation

$85,000 to $100,000, plus RRSP, bonus, benefits, and other great perks.

The Opportunity

Join a dynamic team as a Facilities Maintenance Manager overseeing the routine and capital maintenance of a unionized distribution center housing close to 500,000 sq.ft. Reporting to the Site Manager, you will lead a team of 18-45 maintenance workers depending on the season. The workforce will include 2-3 Maintenance Supervisors across varied shifts, ensuring the smooth operation of building systems and equipment.

The ideal candidate is a service-focused, innovative thinker with strong planning and communication skills, ready to step up from a supervisory or lead role. Experience in warehousing or distribution centers is desirable, but we welcome candidates from diverse industry backgrounds who understand the scope of operations.

Position Description

This role involves managing a preventive maintenance program, interfacing with executives, and fostering strong relationships with suppliers and the broader team. We seek a proactive leader who can navigate a unionized environment, build cohesive teams, and drive operational excellence.

  • Identifying and planning for current and future maintenance needs by collaborating with management, engineering, and production teams to understand the warehouse’s requirements.
  • Supervising and monitor the performance of all maintenance staff, ensuring they meet operational standards.
  • Prioritizing and scheduling the repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to support production operations.
  • Facilitating product development and improvements by coordinating with design engineers and technicians on equipment needs and modifications.
  • Ensuring a sufficient supply of tools and spare parts for conveyors, justifying costs effectively.
  • Overseeing facility project work, including cost estimation, bidding, management, and scheduling, to maintain compliance with WSIB/MOL and company policies.

Experience

  • 5+ Extensive experience in facilities maintenance, particularly in a fast-paced environment.
  • 2+ years’ experience in a leadership role; Manager, Supervisor, Team Lead
  • Experience working in a unionized setting a strong asset
  • Experience working in a Warehouse of Distribution Centre as a Facilities maintenance professional an asset.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills with a high degree of initiative.
  • Excellent knowledge of warehousing processes and proficient computer skills.

Education

  • Completion of post-secondary school degree or diploma in facilities management, engineering, or a related field
  • Relevant certifications (eg. Certified Facility Manager, HVAC certification) would be an asset
