Sales Director – Freight Forwarding and Contract Logistics

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Sales Director to lead growth initiatives across Canada. This is a high-impact opportunity for a senior sales professional with a proven track record in logistics to shape the national sales strategy and build a team from the ground up.

Position Description

Sales Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive national sales strategy focused on air, ocean, and warehousing services.
  • Establish sales goals aligned with corporate targets and ensure consistent achievement of revenue objectives
  • Identify high-potential markets and industry verticals to expand the company’s footprint in Canada.
  • Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to refine sales tactics and value propositions.

Business Development – Air & Ocean Freight

  • Leverage your industry network to generate new business opportunities, particularly within key trade lanes such as Trans-Pacific (Asia–Canada/US).
  • Promote tailored freight forwarding solutions, including time-critical airfreight, FCL/LCL ocean services, and multimodal options.
  • Collaborate with global offices and overseas agents to develop competitive pricing and reliable routings.
  • Educate clients on compliance, customs, and international shipping best practices to build credibility and long-term partnerships.

Contract Logistics & Warehousing Solutions

  • Sell integrated warehousing and distribution services using company-owned facilities in Toronto and Vancouver
  • Work with operations teams to develop scalable fulfillment, storage, and last-mile delivery solutions that address client needs.
  • Drive value-added services including inventory management, pick-and-pack, cross-docking, and e-commerce logistics.

Sales Team Development & Management

  • Recruit, train, and lead a high-performance national sales team (field and inside sales).
  • Set performance KPIs and conduct regular coaching, pipeline reviews, and strategic planning sessions.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and customer-first thinking.
  • Align team efforts with cross-functional partners in operations, customer service, and international logistics.

Key Account Management & Retention

  • Serve as the executive point of contact for high-value clients, ensuring consistent service excellence and proactive issue resolution.
  • Build long-term customer relationships through regular reviews, business insights, and solution development.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell or cross-sell warehousing, value-added services, or international logistics capabilities.

Reporting & Performance Analysis

  • Utilize CRM tools and internal reporting systems to track sales activity, revenue trends, and client engagement.
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership on sales progress, forecasts, and competitive positioning.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance sales efficiency, conversion rates, and client satisfaction.

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain management, with a strong emphasis on air and ocean freight services.
  • 5+ years in a senior sales or leadership role, with a proven track record of building and managing successful sales teams.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success in generating and growing revenue through strategic sales planning, client acquisition, and relationship management.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and sales reporting tools.
  • Comfortable using productivity tools (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) for reporting and strategic planning.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present effectively to clients, executives, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong negotiation and persuasion skills, with a client-first mindset and a consultative approach to selling.
  • Multilingual capabilities (Mandarin or Cantonese) are a plus but not required.

Education

University degree/college diploma in logistics and supply chain management or a related field, or combination or education and experience.
